Renter’s Insurance Requirements
All Conquest PM tenants are required to carry renter’s insurance. Here’s what you need, what it covers, and how to get it before your move-in date.
What CPM Requires
All tenants must maintain active renter’s insurance throughout their lease term. This is a condition of your lease agreement and must be in place before your move-in date.
- Minimum $100,000 in liability coverage
- Conquest Property Management listed as interested party
- Policy must be active before move-in
- Must be maintained for the full lease term
Important: Failure to maintain active renter’s insurance is a lease violation. If no policy is provided, CPM will auto-enroll you in a liability-only policy at approximately $15/month added to your rent. This covers liability only — not your personal belongings.
What Renter’s Insurance Typically Covers
A standard renter’s insurance policy (not the liability-only auto-enrolled plan) generally includes the following:
Personal Property
Covers your furniture, electronics, clothing, appliances, and other belongings if damaged or stolen due to fire, theft, vandalism, or certain water damage.
Liability Coverage
Protects you if someone is injured in your rental or if you accidentally cause damage to the property. This is the coverage CPM requires as a minimum.
Loss of Use
Covers temporary living expenses if your rental becomes uninhabitable due to a covered event, such as a fire or major water damage.
Medical Payments
May cover minor medical costs if a guest is accidentally injured on your rental property, regardless of fault.
What is typically NOT covered: Flood damage (requires separate flood insurance), earthquakes, pest infestations, normal wear and tear, or damage caused intentionally by the tenant.
Contact an Insurance Provider to discuss details.
How to Submit Proof of Insurance
Get a Policy
Purchase a renter’s insurance policy that includes at least $100,000 in liability coverage. Make sure to request that Conquest Property Management be listed as an interested party.
Get Your Declaration Page
Your insurer will provide a declarations page (dec page) confirming your coverage details, effective date, and listed parties. This is your proof of insurance.
Submit Before Move-In
Email your dec page to cpm@conquestrentals.com before your move-in date, or upload it through the Tenant Portal if that option is available for your lease.
Keep It Active
Your policy must remain active for the entire lease term. If your policy lapses, CPM will auto-enroll you in the liability-only plan until you provide a replacement policy.
